YQL is the Alert Lethbridge community assistant. This page explains what powers it and what it is — and is not — meant for.

Model provider

YQL is powered by Anthropic Claude. Your message is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response, with a safety preamble tuned for community use in Lethbridge.

Data handling

YQL does not store your conversations permanently. We log limited safety and usage metadata (timestamps, response type, an anonymous session identifier, and the first 50 characters of a message when a safety topic is detected) so we can keep the assistant working safely. We do not sell or share message content.

What YQL is for

YQL provides general community information only — things like local resources, events, who to contact, and how services in Lethbridge work.

What YQL is not for

YQL is not a substitute for professional advice. It does not provide medical, legal, or financial advice. For health questions, contact Health Link at 811 or a doctor. For legal or financial questions, speak with a qualified professional. In an emergency, call 911.
